MAY CROWNING
Class Meeting
FOCUS members lead a class meeting in second grade.
FIRST COMMUNION - MAY 2, 2015
Second graders highlight the virtue of forgiveness with the words "Time to 4-give!"
In April, second grade reminded us that it is always time to forgive as they highlighted the virtue of forgiveness.
We broke into small groups to discuss what self-control means and what it looks like. Then we shared our group's
definition with the rest of 2T.
2E practiced self-control. The teacher blew bubbles and the students tried to maintain self-control and not pop the bubbles.
Inclusion plays created by second graders.
Caring for Thor
When we finished our pumpkins, we all watched Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin together.
We gave our pumpkins a face.
During October, we got together with our eighth grade buddies to create pumpkin people. It was messy fun.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ 2013-14 FRIENDSHIP and CARING
On their last full day of school, our eighth grade buddies came to visit us and read their "fractured fairy tales" to us.
MAY CROWNING - FAITH
Second grade helped us to celebrate Our Mother, Mary. They wore their First Communion clothes and brought a flower.
Each flower was placed in a vase with the flowers presented by the other students. The vases were placed next to the statue of Mary and
Mrs. Freiling placed a crown upon Mary. Our second graders led us in prayer.
Ready to enter church.
At the end of Mass, second grade sang a song for us, complete with movements.
Morning work goes on, even in our First Communion clothes.
And, now it's time to go.
After Mass, we were back in class for the morning and our First Communion clothes either went home with our Moms or they waited in the closet with our book bags and lunchboxes until dismissal.
FRIENDSHIP AND CARING
We went to Mass with our 8th grade partners for the last time.
We met with our partners to make gifts for each other. We made them a gift for Confirmation and they
made a gift for our First Communion.
We love working with our 8th grade buddies.
Our gift reminds them of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. They gave us a gift to remind us of our First Communion, a picture frame.
Mrs. Everett demonstrates FORGIVENESS using salt for purity and pepper for sins on a paper heart. She then passes a spoon with static electricity over the mixture and it wipes the heart free of sin as the pepper is attracted to the spoon.
At our All-School virtue mass, second grade taught us about the virtue of forgiveness.
Look for the 4's around the building. This is a simple reminder that second grade gave us to help us remember that
it is TIME 2 4---GIVE
We are waiting for our 8th grade partners who will sit with us at our Friday mass.
Here they come!
And, here we go.
We LOVE our 8th grade buddies.
During our class meetings,we do lots of things. We read and discuss books. We learn new songs. We do projects and activities. Sometimes we do them with our 8th grade prayer partners and sometimes we meet by ourselves.
Class meeting in 2E on the virtue of honesty.
Making pumpkins and friends with our partners!
Hi, our names are Abby and Maddie. We are both seventh graders at SMMA. This year we are the classroom reporters for 2T. Throughout the year we will take pictures and keep track of how the second graders live out their virtue of forgiveness. Also, we are going to help them learn more about all the virtues. We both are looking forward to spending time with the second graders this year!
We are Stephanie and Gracie. We are big St. Louis Cardinal baseball fans. We are also best friends. We do a lot of things together. For example, we do baton together. We are in seventh grade and are focus reporters. Throughout the year we will be focusing on the second graders’ virtue of forgiveness. We will be taking pictures and reporting about the things they do.
